WELCOME TO C.A.P.

Churchill Athletic Patrons (C.A.P.) was formed in 2001 as an athletic booster club. C.A.P. is a nonprofit organization financially supported through membership dues and fundraising. Its mission is to promote and enhance the Churchill Athletic Program, provide scholarship opportunities, and foster alumni relations.

A quick overview of how your money is spent:

Pay-to-Participate Fee

The Pay-to-Participate Fee is paid by each family that has an athlete participating in a Churchill sport. All  money goes directly to Livonia Public Schools (LPS) to help with expenses such as coaches and athletic trainer stipends, equipment repair and replacement, team transportation, event supervision, and security.

The Pay-to-Participate Fees make up approximately 40 percent of the middle and high school athletic budgets. An additional 15 percent of the budget comes from the previous year’s gate receipts, and the remaining 45 percent comes from the General Fund.

So who helps pay for the “extras”, a program or coach needs?

C.A.P. does!

Churchill has 39 teams – with over 890 athletes. When coaches or trainers need new team uniforms, warm-up suits, weights for the weight room, or funds to help with things like leveling a baseball diamond, they ask C.A.P. for financial assistance.

What else does C.A.P. do?

Each year, C.A.P. awards eight $1000 scholarships to graduating seniors. To be eligible, the athlete must, among other things, have participated in at least one Churchill athletic sport, plan to continue their education at a college or vocational school, complete a scholarship application form, and be a current C.A.P. member.

Where does C.A.P. get the money to help the teams and the athletes with these expenses?

C.A.P organizes, manages and promotes fundraising events, and offers items to purchase.

How can you support C.A.P.?

Attend the annual Golf Outing, or the Hall of Fame Induction Dinner. Or purchase a Commemorative Brick, a Churchill Charger Stadium Seat or a C.A.P. Membership. All proceeds from these events and purchases are dedicated to C.A.P’s efforts.  .

We hope you will also consider attending one of our monthly C.A.P. meetings. They are held on the second Monday of each month from 7:00 – 8:00 PM in the school cafeteria. We are a small group of volunteer parents, who, along with Casey Conway, Churchill’s athletic director, meet to discuss ways we can enhance the athletic experience for our students. If you have any questions about C.A.P.  or would like more information, please contact Mark McCusker – C.A.P. president at mccusker357@att.net..
